Slightly off-topic, but why can Lewisham Council not invest a small amount into tidying up the entrance to Hilly-Fields, with some more attractive signage etc? The current signs in Lewisham’s blue and green colours are incredibly tattered and ugly.

It seems as though the Fields are becoming more and more of a local attraction and a small improv, ment like this would make a big difference I think.

  2. Chair says:

Apologies for not spotting your comment sooner. Currently Lewisham Council have no funds, but the Friends are looking for grants to improve the signage. I think it was flagged up on the Green Flag comments…not to the extent that it stopped us getting a green flag though. There was an offer of notice boards sometime ago, but we have a long term vision for the park that entails having a bespoke range of furniture. As we have had lots bespoke metal work, we are looking at ideas to pick up this aesthetic. This would be used in the seating, bins and signs and over time we would want to replace nearly all the existing park furniture. Obviously grants are lots of work and this is a long term vision…but I do have a draft HLF application form open on my computer now.

May I please ask if there is to be a 2013 Midsummer Fair and whether there will be tables/stalls available to hire. My family and I raise funds to support a leukaemia charity.

  4. Chair says:

Yes, the summer fair will be on Saturday 23 June 2012, 12 noon-5pm.
It is organised by the Brockley Society, they are redoing their website, but you can email them directly on
    fayre@brockleysociety.org.uk (for fayre related correspondence)

  5. Linda Smith says:

Many thanks for the Brockley Society e-mail address. By the way, the date you gave for the Fair is last year’s date.

  6. Chair says:

Yes, I spotted the correct date, must check where I’ve posted it. It’s always a Saturday…well so far.
