Pruning our fruit trees

A master class with our orchardista, explaining how to prune mature plums. We also sowed the meadow, with extra cornflowers and poppy seeds.

Volunteering with nature conservation

Although we have recently planted over 300 tree saplings and hedge plants, we’ve had a lull with our regular volunteer days. However, we have plans to start them up again on Sunday mornings, probably fortnightly over summer.

Here is some information on what we’ve done in the past.

Mighty oaks from little acorns grow

We have now planted the tree saplings supplied by the Woodland Trust, sponsored by IKEA>
The sun shone and we had a lovely day, with lots of new volunteers. Ruth from Pistachios Cafe kindly took orders and delivered complimentary drinks.

Amongst the oaks and field maples we have a ring of rowan trees and an avenue of cherries and crab apples.
