We will be holding our 2012 AGM this Tuesday, 11th December.

It will start at 7.30pm and finish by 9pm. The annual report is being prepared and it will cover all we have done this year and then we will have an opportunity to discuss plans for next year. It is an open meeting and we’re planning mulled wine and mince pies. It will be held in the cafe at the top of the hill.

Local author Clare Stanhope will be reading from her new book “Brenda’s Bottom and Her Birds” at the Hilly Fields Children’s Midwinter Fair on Saturday 8 December. Clare will be there from 11.00 to 12.00 and will also sign copies of her book which is suitable for children aged 4-10 years.

The story is a kind of magic realism for kids, describing how young Brenda’s bottom grows and grows until it appears remarkably like the river Thames winding its way through London under numerous bridges and past iconic landmarks. It also attracts birds from near and far (including Peru!). It’s a captivating story and the “birds, bridges and buildings” are all named and drawn in an addendum, so it has educational value and “a heartfelt message about body image” in the words of one reviewer.
