June, 2011:

Midsummer Fayre

In case you didn’t already know, come rain or shine, we have the annual midsummer fayre this Saturday 18th June. It starts at 12noon and finishes at 5pm.

The Friends will have a stall this year, with a family quiz and information about lots of the plans we have for the future.

Story Telling

We were awarded a sustainability grant with our Wild About Play project. This is to encourage continued use of our project.
Part of the money was awarded for a story teller and we have finally managed to co-ordinate everything. The first session will be this Tuesday the 14th June. The first session of the day will be with children from Catherine House Nursery, but the remaining sessions (that is at 11am, 11.45am and 12.30pm) are open to all pre school children.

We will have a second day of story telling the following week on Monday 20th June.

Lewisham Parks Survey 2011 –

Lewisham Council would be most grateful if you could find the time to complete their 2011 survey, before 17th June 2011.

I am told that there are also hard copies which can be found with the park keeper. His hours have been cut, so you won’t find him on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.

Children’s Art in the Park

The Brockley Max event for children will be running this Saturday 4th June

Art in the Park 12-5pm Hilly Fields by the stone circle
A magical marquee and performance space offering creative workshops and events sure to fire the imagination of children from 0-16 years of age. Workshops include finger puppets, acapella singing, bringing the Amazon to life, paint your own ceramics, The Creation Station, fun with music, juggling, feltmaking, reggae rhymes, balloon modelling, face painting and loads more. Design an emblem for next year’s Where’s Max, a live Where’s Wally competition.
Once again, Francis Drake Bowls Club on Hilly Fields are hosting a free Bowls Bash so if you’re aged 8 to 98 just bring flat-soled shoes, sporting prowess and a sense of humour for a free try-out in Brockley’s very own Stadium of Balm. Test your body with Zumba, a spicy, hip-swivelling workout where African, Caribbean and Latin moves combine with aerobics.
